Ceremonial groundbreaking set for St. Mary’s Cemetery Columbarium

Posted

A ceremonial groundbreaking at noon Thursday, June 13, will officially kick-off construction of St. Mary’s Cemetery Columbarium at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, Doylestown.

The Rev. Matthew Guckin, pastor, will be joined by invited guests, including Doylestown Borough officials and local funeral directors, to ceremonially break ground at the columbarium’s site, which will be located on the grounds of the parish’s historic St. Mary’s Cemetery.

A columbarium is the natural extension of the Christ-centered relationship between the parish family and its deceased loved ones. St. Mary’s Cemetery Columbarium has been created to provide a final resting place for cremated remains of deceased parishioners and others.

“Just as Christians try their best to imitate Christ in life, we imitate Him in death with a reverent burial,” explained Guckin.

Columbarium construction is expected to be completed later this fall.
