Workforce on Wheels will soon be making rounds in Bucks County

Posted

Applying for jobs and learning about career training programs will soon be getting a little easier for Bucks County residents looking for work, county officials recently announced.

“Workforce on Wheels,” a custom-built RV equipped with computers, a small meeting area and about 12 internet-ready work stations will be available at schools, libraries and community events, said Dianna Kralle, assistant director of workforce and economic development for Bucks. Special staff will also be available to provide support, she added.

“Everything we do in our regular CareerLInk will be scaled down in a mobile unit,” Kralle said, in a statement. “Anywhere we are invited to go we hope to be there.”

PACareerLink is a statewide program to connect job seekers with openings, provide employment training, help people file for unemployment benefits and other services for those in need of work and career training programs. In Bucks County, there are brick and mortar offices in Perkasie and Bristol.

It’s the county’s hope that the mobile unit will reach those who can’t come to those offices. “This allows all of that to get to people who may not be able to get to those other places,” said Bob Harvie, chair of the Bucks County Commissioners.

Workforce on Wheels cost $391,000 and is being paid for with funds from the county’s $121 million in American Recovery Plan money.
