The nonprofit Kin Wellness and Support Center, which is dedicated to caring for the local Bucks County cancer community, is now offering select integrated services to local health care workers.
The extension of services was brokered by Dr. Shelly Hayes of Fox Chase Cancer Center Buckingham and the director of Kin, Kristina Fenimore, with help from Kin’s long-standing practitioner and reiki master Mary Ellen Morba as a means for supporting health care providers.
Burnout is on the rise among this group, thus, the idea was crafted to provide integrative support services to them and help them help others. Due to their busy schedules and daily demands, it is not realistic for health care providers to come to Kin during the work day to receive integrative services. Kin’s new Remote Care Program is designed to accommodate the health care providers’ schedules, and bring integrative service to them on-site at their offices.
“I am so happy to be able to grow Kin’s holistic cancer care program in ways that help more people,” Fenimore stated. “Through our nearly 50 volunteer practitioners and instructors we already provide relief to hundreds of people throughout their cancer journey. We’ve worked closely with the hospitals who refer our guests. This new program, which focuses on the health care workers, is a natural extension for us. We’re so excited to be able to offer these remote integrative opportunities to help those who help others.”
