Henry Edward “Harry” Schaeffer of Doylestown, PA died on June 13, 2024 at home surrounded by his family.

Harry was born on November 9, 1935 in Philadelphia, PA to Kathryn and Harry Schaeffer. He graduated from St. John’s High School in Manayunk after which he attended Modesto Junior College in California on a basketball scholarship. He then joined the United States Army where he served three years in the Army Security Agency. His Army duty stations included California, Mississippi, Cyprus, and the Philippines.

After his honorable discharge from the Army, Harry met his future wife, Judi, while she was a nursing student tending to Harry’s father who was sick in the hospital. After a short courtship they were married on February 9, 1963 in Cheltenham PA and promptly moved to the South American country of British Guiana were Harry was employed by the Central Intelligence Agency.

Harry and Judi went on to have three beautiful daughters: Amy, Beth and Megan. The family moved to Bucks County when the girls were very young and have lived in the Doylestown, PA area ever since.

Harry was always a hard worker and a great provider for his family. He was an entrepreneur who owned his own business, H.E.S. Data Products, which supplied custom forms and office products to many area businesses. In retirement Harry enjoyed golfing with his sons-in-law and spending time with family and dear friends. He was known for making everyone laugh and made you feel like you were the most important person in the room.

Harry is survived by his wife, Judi, his daughters Amy (Bob), Beth (John) and Megan, his grandchildren Maggie (Brett), Robbie (Katie), Chloe, Sam (Zina), Henry (Abby), Kady, Molly and his great-grandchildren Ellis, Adelynn, Grace and Sammy. He was predeceased by his parents as well as his siblings Molly, Tom and John.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Harry’s graveside service, with military honors, at the Washington Crossing National Cemetery, 830 Highland Ave., Newtown, PA 18940 on Thursday June 27, 2024 at 10:15 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Harry’s name to: River of Life Church, 3434 Durham Rd., Doylestown, PA 18902.

The family would like to thank Abington Hospital, Shannondell at Valley Forge and Penn Medicine Home Health for the loving care they provided during Harry’s convalescence.
