Chris Pinnella to “bring” Billy Joel to New Hope

Posted

Chris Pinnella is a big Billy Joel fan.

“We started out doing these shows on my 30th birthday just for fun and they sort of spiraled,” says Pinnella. Now a few years later the singer, who holds a platinum record for touring and recording with Trans-Siberian Orchestra, is bringing Billy Joel’s music to the New Hope Winery at 8 p.m. Friday June 28.

Pinnella will be backed by his eight-piece band. Unlike most Billy Joel tribute bands, the group will kick off its show by playing through The Piano Man’s legendary album, “Songs in the Attic,” in its entirety track by track.

The album is filled with hits like “Say Goodbye to Hollywood,” “Miami 2017,” “Captain Jack” and “She’s Got A Way,” to b-side classics like “Summer Highland Falls,” “You’re My Home,” and “Ballad of Billy The Kid” to deep cuts “Los Angelenos,” “Streetlife Serenader” and more.

“Billy is such a prolific songwriter that to play just the hits is great, but for me, a true fan, I love the b-side tracks and deeper cuts as well,” says Pinnella.

With that said, the band won’t stop after the album is finished and will play through a second set of Billy hits and of course some deep cuts as well.
