Bucks students honored by AAA Mid-Atlantic

Posted

AAA’s School Safety Program is celebrating its 100th year as the largest school-based safety program in the world.

AAA Mid-Atlantic recently honored four students around the Philadelphia five-county area as Outstanding AAA School Safety Patrol Members for the 2019-2020 school year. The four students include Zoe Baganski, a fifth-grader from McDonald Elementary in Warminster, and Gianni Peretta, a sixth-grader from Groveland Elementary in Doylestown.

As a member of the McDonald Elementary School Safety Patrol, Baganski is described as personable, confident and a solid leader. She has the ability to find the positive in any situation, leads by example and works to teach her peers expected safety behaviors instead of merely telling them what to do. While most patrollers have one post, Baganski has two. She volunteered to assist the physical education teacher with the Brain Train program to help students start their day with exercise. Baganski plays a pertinent role in this program as she helps set up, assist students through activity transitions, and participates with her peers.

Peretta plays a vital role as a captain of the Groveland Elementary Safety Patrol. He is described as a well-respected, kind and responsible leader and is credited with a strong ability to stay calm in all situations and problem solve every day challenges. Peretta has provided the advisor and teachers with ideas to make procedures work more efficiently throughout the building by sharing his thoughts during “Captains Corner” at monthly meetings and created a monthly unsung hero award to recognize a safety patrol member who is working hard but may not be noticed.

As an Outstanding School Safety Patrol award recipient, Baganski received a plaque in recognition of her accomplishments and a Visa Gift Card during a surprise socially distanced in-person presentation outside her home, presented by AAA Mid-Atlantic and teachers from McDonald Elementary.

Peretta also received a plaque and Visa Gift Card in recognition of his accomplishments as an Outstanding School Safety Patrol award winner during a video conference call, which included representatives from AAA Mid-Atlantic and teachers from Groveland Elementary.
