French-Tunisian composer and saxophonist Yacine Boularès brings together a supergroup of Tunisian artists across indigenous and contemporary musical styles for “A Night in Tunisia.”
The energetic and celebratory exploration of the continuum of North African and African American music will be performed at ArtYard’s McDonnell Theater, 13 Front St., Frenchtown, N.J., at 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15.
The rare collaboration of Tunisia’s best-known musicians re-imagine Dizzy Gillespie’s standard, “Night in Tunisia,” using the harmonies and melodies of jazz, soul, and funk meeting the pulse and soul of Tunisian rhythms.
