Woodside Christian preschoolers learn Spanish

Posted

Woodside Christian Preschool students in the 4-year-old and transitional kindergarten programs have been learning Spanish words and phrases this year.

As part of the Yardley preschool’s “Funatastic Fridays,” Wee Play Language has been exposing the children to Spanish through activity boxes and play. The program was designed to teach young children foreign languages in an organic way that makes learning fun.

“We are really excited to be exposing our students to Spanish this year,” said Sherri Wolf, director of Woodside Christian Preschool. “The themes from Wee Play have integrated really well with our monthly themes at the preschool.”

Chantell Socha, lead teacher for the 4s Extended Day program agrees. “We’ve learned Spanish words for foods that we eat, weather we experience, and animals we might see on a farm. The kids really enjoy the interactive lessons and come away with knowing some new words in a different language.”

“I like playing with the toys,” said Emelia Glennie from Yardley. “It’s so much fun,” she added with a big smile.
