The Tinicum Arts Festival returns to Tinicum Park

Posted

The Tinicum Arts Festival is well known as a premier showcase for the best in arts, crafts, music and literature that Bucks County has to offer.

Returning to the shady grounds of Tinicum Park along the Delaware River in Erwinna July 13 and 14, this year (its 73rd) promises to be the best yet. Relax and delight in this unique tradition, enjoy one or two days of very affordable family fun for the price of a single admission. And it is all for a good cause.

The festival is hosted each year by the Tinicum Civic Association, a volunteer nonprofit organization that encourages artistic talent, supports community well-being and preserves the historic Stover Mill in Erwinna. Proceeds benefit the historic Stover Mill, home of the Stover Mill Gallery, and are donated to over 30 local nonprofit organizations.

The centerpiece of the festival is the Art Barn, where a judged exhibit of the works of nearly 200 regional artists will be on display and for sale. Judges for the 2024 Art Barn Exhibit are David Horowitz and Debbie Pisacreta.

The Art Barn will be surrounded by more than 120 booths filled with handmade creations by local artisans to tempt the serious shopper in all of us. Scattered throughout the grounds will be strolling entertainers, activity centers, and other delights for every member of the family regardless of age or interest. Imagine...magicians, strolling musicians, children’s activities, a used book sale, a white elephant sale and live musical performances on stage each day with new acts and festival favorites including Barefoot Bobby & the Breakers, Jericho Grass, Mike Montrey Band, Cherry Lane Band, Michael Arenella Jazz Quartet and Grateful Dead cover band Bear’s Choice.

An honored ‘tradition’ at the festival, is the creation of an original piece of art by a distinguished artist during the course of the day on Saturday. Visitors can watch painter Tracy Everly capture the iconic bank barn en plein air. It happens at the Discovery Tent beginning at 11 a.m. on Saturday and Everly has generously agreed to donate the artwork that she creates to the Silent Auction tent.

There, visitors can bid on Saturday and Sunday for the chance to take it home, along with other items from local merchants and fantasy trips abroad. And the Author’s Table is back again this year with 19 regional authors and illustrators who will be happy to autograph their books just for you.

Also available will be a delicious variety of fun festival food, whether you prefer funnel cake, fresh-squeezed lemonade or serious Italian sausage sandwiches, cheeseburgers or vegetarian fare.

The hours are 10 am to 6 pm on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. Unlimited admission for the weekend is $10 for adults and $1 for children ages 6-12. Children under 6 and parking are free. The grounds are wheelchair accessible, but pets and bicycles are not permitted. For information visit www.TinicumArtsFestival.org.
