Pearl S. Buck International fetes graduates of leadership program

Posted
A graduation ceremony for the 2019 spring session of the Global Leadership Program at Pearl S. Buck International was held May 14.

Graduates of the program include: Aneri Armin, North Penn High School; Yajat Bungatavula, Krisha Patel, Souderton Area High School; Chelsea Curran, Lenape Middle School (Central Bucks School District); Styles Martin, Isabella Polson and Rebecca Yardley, Pennridge High School. As their service project, the students organized a cultural craft fair for family and friends, featuring crafts and art from countries across the globe. The funds raised from the event will go toward buying shoes for 40 orphaned children in Vietnam.

The Global Leadership Program, for students from grades nine through 11, is designed to help young adults become better students, college applicants, and global citizens. Students build relationships and learn vital skills such as team communication, cultural awareness, creativity, community service, leadership, goal setting and decision making in a group setting with teens from multiple high schools and differing backgrounds.

The program is made possible by funding from Comcast. The deadline for applications for the summer session of the Global Leadership Program is July 18. Students can find more information and apply at pearlsbuck.org/leadership.
