Woodside Christian Preschool raises over $6,000 during annual Walk A Thon

Posted

Woodside Christian Preschool held its annual Walk A Thon May 16 and 17.

Teachers and students walked together around a track in the parking lot, while families pledged support of the children. All funds collected will support two charitable organizations: The Kelly Anne Dolan Memorial Fund and the Mandevu Community School in Zambia.

Woodside Christian Preschool has sponsored the Kelly Anne Dolan Memorial Fund (KADMF) for over 30 years, and is the longest running fundraising partner of the Fund. KADMF provides financial help for parents caring for children with complex medical issues.

“We just love coming to Woodside and watching these young preschoolers walking joyfully to help others,” said Linda Bean, KADMF community engagement manager.

The funds raised also support new desks for students at Mandevu Community School in Zambia. “Seeing how students in Zambia cram several to a desk really made an impact on our preschoolers. Explaining to them that their fundraising efforts would help purchase additional desks gave them a very tangible goal to walk towards,” explained Sherri Wolf, director of Woodside Christian Preschool.

Students from sevne classes completed a total of 3,385 laps, and raised over $6,000 in donations and pledges.
