Pearl S. Buck Estate offers trio of family fall fun events

Posted

Visit the Pearl S. Buck Estate Oktoberfest celebration from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 22.

The family-friendly event will take place all around the sprawling 67-acre estate in Hilltown.

Partake in food and drink, including bratwurst, pretzels, and beer. Take a tour of the National Historic Landmark Pearl S. Buck House museum. Enjoy a variety of kids’ games and activities, including pumpkin painting, sidewalk chalk, arts and crafts, a scavenger hunt, and storytelling stations.

Listen to the musical stylings of Polkadelphia, not your ordinary oompah band, playing traditional German and Polish favorites as well as more modern covers. Peruse the boutique gift shop for gifts and souvenirs.

Tickets are $20 per carload and can be purchased ahead of time or day-of at the gate. For information, visit https://pearlsbuck.org/oktoberfest/. Parking onsite is limited and carpooling is encouraged.

Get into the spooky spirit of Halloween with a haunted ghost tour of the historic Pearl S. Buck House and grounds. Take a classic historic house ghost tour featuring stories of spooky encounters, resident ghosts, and ghost tales from Asia. Hear real-life ghostly encounters experienced in the house and on the grounds by Pearl Buck, Pearl S. Buck International staff, and others.

These tours will be offered at 6 and 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 27 and Saturday, Oct. 28. Tours are not recommended for children under 13. Come if you dare. Tour space is limited. Tickets will be available at: https://pearlsbuck.org/ghost-tours/ or 215-249-0100.

Take a fall wreath-making class with Mark Bryan Designs at 2 p.m. Nov. 5. Based in Upper Black Eddy, Mark Bryan has over 30 years of floral design, landscaping design, and horticultural experience. Tickets are $65 and include all the supplies needed to create a 15-inch wreath. Find out more at: https://pearlsbuck.org/wreaths

All fall events will take place on the grounds of the Pearl S. Buck Estate, located at 520 Dublin Road, Hilltown. Proceeds from all community events benefit the humanitarian, cross-cultural, and educational work and mission of Pearl S. Buck International. For all upcoming events at the Pearl S. Buck Estate, go to: https://pearlsbuck.org/events.
