Indicting Donald J. Trump for inciting a mob on January 6th and attempting to prevent the peaceful transfer of power by other means and other deeds would put the matters into the hands of juries vetted by both sides.
Both sides will present evidence (not theories) of his guilt or innocence.
Indicting a former president would not further divide the country. It might even change minds and promote healing.
