Teammates again.

Thomas Jefferson senior Haley Meinel and Holy Family sophomore Taylor Hinkle shared an alma mater – Central Bucks South. Now, both women’s basketball players share a spot on the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) first team.

Meinel also earned her unprecedented third straight Conference Defensive Player of the Year honor. She ranked second in the country in steals (115) and second in the CACC in blocks (40). Meinel averaged nearly 15 points per game. She was the Defensive Player of the Week four times and the Player of the Week twice this season. Thomas Jefferson was ranked in the top five in the country at press time.

Hinkle won four CACC weekly awards and earned the December conference Student Athlete of the Month. Her 10.2 rebounds per game and 12 double-doubles are both top three in the CACC. She also averages nearly 12 points per game. Hinkle is just the second Tiger to be named first team all-CACC since 2012-13.

Wilkes (19-8) men’s basketball senior forward Trent Fisher was selected to the Landmark Conference first team. It is the second time in his collegeiate career that Pennridge’s Fisher earned a first team all-conference honor. He was a first team All-MAC Freedom pick as a sophomore and the MAC Freedom Rookie of the Year as a freshman. Fisher was the Landmark Athlete of the Week for Jan. 29 through Feb. 4 when he had two double-doubles in conference wins.

Fisher averaged 14.5 points and 9.8 rebounds a game; the rebounds were tops in the Landmark. Fisher joined Wilkes’ 1,000-point club this season and leaves fifth all time in blocks (114) and eighth all time in rebounds (686).
