Faith Christian improved to 9-0 on Monday after its 3-0 win over Bicentennial Athletic League rival Plumstead Christian.
The pitching duel belied both teams’ offensive trends. The Lions have scored runs in bunches and Plumstead was the first team to hold them under 12 runs this year. Faith has outscored opponents 129-7 so far, mercy ruling all but two opponents.
Maybe this is the season Faith breaks through. The Lions have reached the finals of the last three District One Class A title games, only to lose all three games by one or two runs. This spring, Faith has shown it has the offensive firepower to win a district.
Plumstead is now 4-2. The Panthers made districts in 2021 and 2022; at 9-4, they missed the fourth spot in the ’23 playoffs by the slimmest of power point margins. Prior to the Faith game, Class A Plumstead’s lone loss was to 3A and previously unbeaten Bristol.
The Panthers have no shortage of weapons either. Plumstead averaged nearly 14 runs per game in its four wins.
Both teams had late Wednesday games, with Faith hosting Collegium Charter and Plumstead going to Delco Christian. Faith heads to Delco on Friday while Plumstead hosts MaST Charter on Saturday.
