Castle Valley Mill makes retail debut at The Mercantile

Posted

Castle Valley Mill opened its Real Food Store in late December, in The Mercantile at Doylestown, an indoor marketplace that is home to dozens of local artisans and merchants from in and around Bucks County.

Castle Valley Mill is a fully restored 1800s grist mill on Lower State Road in Doylestown that began supplying local whole and stone-ground, freshly milled flours, grits and meals to the tri-state area 12 years ago.

Its Mercantile store provides the mill’s full range of products and carries shelf-stable food items from dozens of small local producers, such as 1732 Crackers, Laurie’s Chocolates, Whiskey Hollow Maple Syrup, Vesta BBQ and Manoff Farms.

Fran Fischer, owner and comptroller of Castle Valley Mill, who refers to herself as the “reality monitor,” said, “We don’t have a [retail] store, so The Mercantile presented a perfect solution for our local customers. I love referring people to ‘the Merc’ for all of our Castle Valley Mill products.”

Added Mark Fischer, owner, founder, and as he puts it, “benevolent dictator” of Castle Valley Mill, “We are delighted to be part of the community and the vibe at The Mercantile. We love partnering with other food artisans to bring the bounty of Bucks County to the consumer. We all believe, to our core, that real food is good.”

Marc BrownGold, director of sales and business development at Castle Valley Mill, said, “What makes them different is their integrity, they say what they mean and mean what they say. This product is so easy to sell because it’s so beautiful – the flavors are amazing. We do things the right way and we are the future of food.”

Castle Valley Mill’s Real Food store brings local producers to local consumers. For information, visit Castle Valley Mill online or contact the mill by email or phone.
