Lyme Support Group hosts miniature golf awareness event

Posted

Bucks County Lyme Support Group, on behalf of the PA Lyme Resource Network, is hosting the Lily Bennett Miniature Golf Awareness event at Freddy Hill Farms, Lansdale, noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 8.

Lily was an active 2-year-old who loved gardening and butterflies. In 2014, after playing in her yard, a tick was removed from her forehead. Within a few days she developed body aches, Bell’s Palsy symptoms and a rash. Doctors were informed of the removed tick but did not attribute Lily’s worsening symptoms to it. Fifteen days later, one-day after her third birthday, Lily died of Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever, a tick-borne disease (TBD).

Every day in Pennsylvania, 81 children become infected with Lyme/tick-borne diseases, and up to 30% develop long-term symptoms or worse.

The miniature golf event will take place in four different locations on successive weekends around the state. Tickets for the Lansdale event can be purchased at eventbrite.com/e/lily-bennett-memorial-miniature-golf-for-lyme-tbd-awarenesslansdale-tickets-385159872547.
