Blessing of the Delaware River set

Posted

St. Philip’s Episcopal Church, New Hope, will conclude the Christmas Season with the traditional Blessing of the Delaware River at the Ferry Street Park in New Hope, at 5 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 8.

The Feast of the Baptism of the Lord remembers the baptism of Jesus in the River Jordan by St. John the Baptist and revelation of the Holy Trinity.

“This traditional custom today takes on new meaning by reminding us of our responsibility to protect the earth resources, particularly our own Delaware River,” said the Rev. Michael Ruk, priest at St. Philip’s Church.

All are welcome to attend this ancient Christian custom. For information, visit stphilipsnewhope.org or 215-862-5782.
