Artist Jerry Cable releases Christmas card with uplifting message

Bucks County artist Jerry Cable, announced the release of his 2021 artist edition Christmas card.
This year’s painting titled “The Road Home,” depicts Sheard’s Mill Covered Bridge. The beautiful bridge, also known as Thatcher’s Bridge, crosses the Tohickon Creek near Quakertown, Pa. Built in 1873, it spans 130’ feet, making it one of the longest of the 12 covered bridges in Bucks County.
The inside verse reads, “It’s a long way home but we always find it. May your holiday journeys to reunite with family and friends be safe, and the spirit of Christmas give us hope for the New Year.”
“When deciding on this year’s image, I wanted the card to be uplifting as well as sensitive to losses we have all experienced due to the pandemic,” said Cable. “As we find our way back to normalcy and perhaps see light at the end of the tunnel — or covered bridge — I hope everyone remains safe and hopeful this holiday season.”

Cable, a well-known Bucks County painter, was born in northeastern Ohio, where he discovered his passion for art at an early age. Under the tutelage of a private instructor, Cable set out to define himself as an artist. He has since gone on to win numerous awards and has exhibited in more than 50 juried exhibitions, including The Philadelphia Sketch Club and The National Art Club of New York City, along with more than 35 solo exhibitions in Philadelphia, New Jersey, Maine, Connecticut and Ohio.
As a young boy growing up in Ohio, Cable began making hand-made Christmas cards. His early production methods using block prints, linoleum cuts, and hand tinted photocopies could only produce a few dozen cards. Today’s digital offset printing process is more refined and allows the artist to print thousands of cards.
