Arbor Day event set for New Hope

Posted

New Hope’s 2023 Arbor Day celebration will take place from noon to 2 p.m. Friday, April 28, at the Parry Mansion, 45 S. Main St.

The free event features speakers, educational games, music, food, beverages and prizes, and is child and dog friendly.

The New Hope Shade Tree Commission, in partnership with the New Hope Historical Society, brings the New Hope Arbor Day Celebration to the Parry Mansion for the second year in a row.

The event will celebrate the combined efforts in planting 15 new trees on the grounds of the Parry Mansion as part of the Aquetong Creek riparian buffer restoration planting plan. With an emphasis on native and period species, A Garden in Thyme, a historical gardening service, was consulted to replace several large trees lost due to age and disease.

Purchased through the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society’s bare root tree program the trees will be planted days before the event with oversight provided by members of the local New Hope Tree Tenders group.
