Posted

The Friends of Nockamixon State Park hosted their 10th annual Kid’s Fishing Tournament at the Children’s Pond at Nockamixon State Park June 10.

Children ages 5-14 participated in the event, and everyone received free bait, fishing items and a chance to win over 25 raffle prizes.

The winners were Ben Ewer, 7, who caught a 7-inch largemouth bass; Jake Vincent, 11, who caught a 14.25-inch channel catfish; and Amelia Doremus, 10, who caught a 15.75-inch channel catfish. Amelia and Kaylee Frey, 11, tied for a trophy for the most variety of species caught.

Sponsors Clayton’s Hunting and Fishing donated the bait for the event, Grace Martin and Mary Hoffman donated raffle prizes and snacks, Rich Ludwig donated fishing poles, and Dick’s Sporting Goods and Target donated raffle items.

In addition to sponsors, the Friends thank all volunteers, especially the NOCK Mafia Fishing Club for measuring and recording the fish for the trophies, baiting hooks, untangling lines and teaching casting techniques to the kids.
