For the second season in a row, Unami Middle School’s seventh and eighth grade softball team won the Central Bucks School District’s softball championship.

It was the first trip to the state tournament for the Council Rock South softball team.And the Golden Hawks put on a show, reaching the title game. But CR South fell just shy of the state crown.

Archbishop Wood’s season comes to end

It was the final curtain on an amazing year. The Archbishop Wood softball team saw its historic season come to an end with Monday’s 8-0 loss to District Seven champion Elizabeth Forward on Monday at Norlo Park Softball Complex in Fayetteville.

The final four went three of four in reaching the Final Four. Three of the four remaining area softball and baseball teams won their Thursday PIAA quarterfinal, earning them berths to the state semifinals on Monday.

Council Rock South (21-3) remains unbeaten all time in state playoff games. In their first-ever PIAA appearance Monday, the Golden Hawks topped District 11 champion Liberty 1-0 at DeSales.

They are going where no Quakertown softball team has ever gone before.

The wind was blowing in on Tuesday’s District One PIAA playback between No. 11 Central Bucks West (15-7) and host No. 2 Council Rock South.
