Yardley Historical Assn. offers festive Saturday open houses

Posted

The Old Library by Lake Afton will be decked out in its holiday best this month as the Yardley Historical Association welcomes visitors to community open houses on the next three Saturdays.

The centerpiece is an expansive model train layout that evokes Yardley’s past and present, but visitors can also check out a tall fir tree decorated with handmade ornaments that call to mind winter on Lake Afton.

Cookies and cider will be offered to all.

Open houses are scheduled from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Dec. 2, 9 and 16 at the library, located at 46 W. Afton Ave.

Admission is free, though donations are welcome and will support the historical association’s efforts to maintain the Victorian library building and its collection of books, documents and ephemera related to Yardley’s history.
