Yardley Borough has new full-time police officer

Posted

Yardley Borough’s new full-time police officer is no stranger to the department.

Dakota B. Romberger had been part time on the force for more than two years before being sworn in at the Oct. 18 council meeting as a full-time officer. Like all full-time officers in the borough, he was chosen in compliance with Pennsylvania and Yardley civil service rules and was picked from a list of four candidates that came out of that process.

Romberger fills the full-time vacancy created when Officer Joseph Harris moved out of state earlier this year. Romberger is the recipient of four department commendations, including the 2021 GEM award. He is a graduate of Randolph (N.J.) High School and the Montgomery County Police Academy (2019).

“In a time when police recruiting has never been more challenging, Yardley Borough was fortunate enough to compile, via the civil service process, a group of outstanding candidates,” Borough Police Chief Joseph D. Kelly III said. “Officer Romberger has demonstrated time and time again his commitment to the YBPD core values of integrity, loyalty, respect and courage.

“Officer Romberger understands borough policing and possesses the right blend of emotional intelligence and personal initiative to make a positive impact on his community.”
