Wrightstown can continue locally enforcing the rules of its noise ordinance on alcohol-serving establishments located within township borders.
The three-person board of supervisors that governs the municipality covered the topic at Monday’s public meeting.
Normally, the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board and Pennsylvania State Police have jurisdiction over noise complaints related to alcohol-serving establishments, Supervisor Chairman Chester Pogonowski explained.
However, in 2022, Wrightstown officials asked the LCB for permission to enforce township noise regulations on such businesses. Following a public hearing, the LCB granted Wrightstown that authority for a one-year trial period that was set to expire in December 2023, said Pogonowski.
Before that could happen, Wrightstown applied for approval to continue the enforcement.
Following another public hearing, this one in November, the LCB green-lighted a three-year extension of the township-level enforcement agreement. Local police and Wrightstown’s code enforcement officer will handle enforcement actions.
The noise regulations aim to prevent noise levels from becoming a disruption to residents and other businesses.
