Women’s Equality Day stresses importance of getting out to vote

Posted

On August 26, 1920, the 19th Amendment to the United States Constitution was finally adopted, giving women in every state of the Union the right to vote.

Many people do not realize that the 19th Amendment also prohibits all states and the federal government from denying the right to vote to any American citizen on the basis of sex.

Since 1871, we have marked this special day in history by celebrating Women’s Equality Day. This year Women’s Equality Day reminds us of the unique daily struggles that women face and how important it is not to just celebrate our right to vote but to remember to exercise this right on Tuesday, November 8, 2022! Make sure you are registered and then GET OUT AND VOTE.
