Warminster Symphony Orchestra presents “An Overture to Spring”

Posted

Warminster Symphony Orchestra’s spring concert will be held at 8 p.m. Saturday, March 18, at Archbishop Wood High School Auditorium.

The cornerstone of this concert is Aaron Copland’s beloved “Appalachian Spring Suite,” the haunting orchestral work partly based upon the 19th-century Shaker hymn “Simple Gifts.”

Also on the program is Bizet’s “L’Arlesienne Suite No. 2,” Anderson’s “First Day of Spring.” Young Artist Youth Division Winner Channa Lee will perform Vitali’s “Chaconne” for violin, and Youth Division Winner Kai Freeman will perform the first movement of Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto.

According to Music Director Joseph Lovecchio, “An Overture to Spring” is brimming with the spirit and vitality of the new season.

Archbishop Wood High School Auditorium is located at 655 York Road, Warminster, where ample free parking is available.

Tickets are $25 at the door, $22 in advance, and students with ID pay $10.
