Just in time for the famous Philadelphian’s 318th birthday, Benjamin Franklin will travel north to Warminster on Saturday, Jan. 13 in the form of historical reenactor, Mitchell Kramer.
Kramer, as Franklin, will visit the Ben Wilson Senior Activity Center at 2 p.m. as part of an interactive event co-sponsored by the Warminster Township Free Library. His “Benjamin Franklin Interpreted” show will focus on Franklin’s life and accomplishments, including funny anecdotes. Karmer will explain some Franklin’s scientific discoveries and talk about Franklin’s connections to the Warminster area.
An actor and historian, Kramer is a Philadelphia native who has been playing the role of Ben Franklin for almost 20 years. He has become widely recognized for his portrayal with appearances on national TV, including on “Good Morning America” and in promotional spots for Major League Baseball and the NFL.
He regularly gives talks as Franklin at conferences, corporate events, and at area institutions, including The Library Company, the Free Library of Philadelphia, the University of Pennsylvania, and Valley Forge State Park. He is based in Old City, where he owns and operates a tour company and he has published extensively about Philadelphia history.
Benjamin Franklin Interpreted is the first collaboration between the Warminster Library and the Ben Wilson Senior Center.
The latest historical portrayal event is the latest in a series that also included portrayals of Harriet Tubman and Queen Elizabeth II.
Tickets are $10 each and can be purchased at the Warminster Library (cash sales only). Light refreshments will be served and attendees will also get a chance to talk with staff members of both the library and the senior center to learn about services and upcoming events.
