Vows and Valentines “a labor of love”

Posted

What better day to get married or renew your wedding vows than Valentine’s Day?

For at least 18 couples it was the perfect time. For the fourth year, the Bucks County Register of Wills’ offer to tie the knot at its “Vows and Valentines 2024” event filled the administrative building’s rotunda with beautiful, smiling couples eager to say “I do.”

Barry Berkowitz and Jim Underberg came from New Hope to marry in a group ceremony with other happy couples in the festive, sunny space, as family and friends looked on.

The pair said they met at work in 2015 and started dating not long after. “Love is love at any age,” said Underberg.

Others, like Tamba and Amy, are a young couple living near Philadelphia, who said their love of God and family binds them together. “Just as Tamba would always say ‘life is a journey and love is what makes the journey worthwhile’.”

Two couples renewed their vows, pledging their love and commitment to each other once more. Esther and Steven Lenzer have been together for 35 years and Frederick and Pat Williamson for nearly 42 years.

Register of Wills Linda Bobrin said the idea for a communal-style wedding ceremony and vow-renewal service came to her after seeing the positive response to the same annual ceremony for Bucks County veterans and first responders.

“We wanted to do something fun in the Register’s office,” said Bobrin.

“It’s a labor of love,” added Doug Wayne, the first deputy at the Register of Wills.
