Troop 99 inducts new Eagle Scout

Posted

Matthew Rampe of New Hope received the rank of Eagle Scout at a Court of Honor held at Thompson Memorial Presbyterian Church on July 23.

The event began with a welcome from Rampe’s Eagle Scout advisor James Fiore and a invocation from Thompson Memorial Pastor Stephanie Ashford. U.S. Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick, state Rep. Wendi Thomas and a representative from the office of state Sen. Steve Santarsiero presented citations.

Rampe is a rising senior and International Baccalaureate Diploma Candidate at George School in Newtown, where he competes in varsity tennis and wrestling, participates in Model United Nations and will be a member of the school’s Discipline Committee for the upcoming year.

For his project, he designed, built and installed bass traps in George School’s new music recording studio that will be used by students and the community to produce a better quality of sound when playing music.

“I’d like to thank all my fellow Scouts in Troop 99 for pushing me to be better at every camp out and meeting, and pushing me to become an effective leader. The people I’ve met have changed me personally and allowed me to grow as a leader,” said Rampe.

As a member of Troop 99, Rampe acted as bugler, patrol leader and quartermaster at different points and attended the World Scout Jamboree at the Summit Bechtel Family National Scout Reserve in West Virginia in 2019.
