Trinity Church Friends of Music Concert hosts Timothy Harrell organ recital

Friends of Music presents Timothy Harrell, organist, in recital at 4 p.m. Sunday, June 23, at Trinity Episcopal Church, Route 263 and Sugan Road, Solebury.

The recital will feature organ works by Dieterich Buxtehude, Franz Tunder, Matthias Weckmann, Johann Sebastian Bach, Cesar Franck and Charles Marie Widor.

The organ at Trinity Church was built by Martin Pasi & Associates and installed in 2006. It is a mechanical action instrument of 29 stops, 33 ranks.

Joining Harrell will be Christopher Whitney, who will comment on each selection.

Harrell is in his 26th year as organist/choirmaster at Trinity Church. He is a native of Portsmouth, Va., and is a graduate of Old Dominion University, Norfolk, Va., with a B.S. in organ performance, having studied with Dr. Charles Vogan. He earned a Master of Music degree with dual majors in organ performance and church music at Westminster Choir College, where he studied with Joan Lippincott.

Harrell previously held positions at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral, Trenton, N.J.; St. John’s Episcopal Church, Olympia, Wash., Doylestown Presbyterian Church; First United Church of Christ, Quakertown; and Cradock Baptist Church, Portsmouth, Va. He also served as University Organist at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, for 11 years. Harrell is accompanist for the Bucks County Choral Society.

Admission is $15 for adults and $5 for ages 18 and under at the door.
