Cino named board chairman as Upper Makefield Supervisors reorganize for 2023

Posted

Tom Cino will again be at the head of the Upper Makefield Board of Supervisors.

In an annual board reorganization meeting held Jan. 3, fellow supervisors voted to appoint Cino chairman of the board. It will be his eighth year in the chairman’s role.

A township resident since 1976, Cino first earned election to the board in 2010. Prior to being a supervisor, he was involved in volunteer township committees, including the Parks and Recreation Board and the Environmental Advisory Council.

Cino’s election to the chairman’s role came as the five-person board of supervisors that locally governs Upper Makefield also formally appointed key township staffers and consultants for 2023.

Dave Nyman continues as township manager, secretary and right-to-know officer. Judy Caporiccio remains assistant township manager/assistant right-to-know officer.

Mary Eberle of the firm Grim, Biehn and Thatcher is township solicitor, while Larry Young of Tri-State Engineers and Land Surveyors, Inc. is township engineer. Tom Zarko of CKS Engineers is Upper Makefield’s water/sewer engineer. Ryan Cassidy of Eckert Seamans fills the township’s labor counsel role.

In other news, Upper Makefield is looking to hire a public works foreman and public works laborer. The foreman position opened up in December after previous foreman, Matthew Gorman, took over the top public works role of superintendent, replacing Bruce Scott, who retired. At the meeting, supervisors formally authorized that the job vacancies could be advertised and the search started.
