Tinicum lines up project manager, engineering firm for Headquarters Road Bridge

Posted

Following a contentious Feb. 20 meeting where the Tinicum Township Board of Supervisors resolved to take back Headquarters Road Bridge from PennDOT and privately finance its rehabilitation after 13 years of fractious closure, plans are moving forward.

Township Engineer Curt Genner, at the March 5 meeting of the board of supervisors, estimated it’d be two more weeks before permitting plans for bridge rehabilitation are submitted to the DEP.

But surveying has begun, including topography and stream cross-section work. A drone survey has also generated a 3-D model.

“Copies of all current plans will be on file at the municipal building for residents to inspect,” he said.

Wynn & Associates, where Genner serves as a vice president, was unanimously designated on March 5 as project manager.

On the private funding side, Solicitor Scott Holbert said he is working with Woodtiger, the funding organization, to finalize legal agreements and contracts.

“They are complying with what we require and we’re expecting closure shortly, including establishment of bank account(s) into which Woodtiger will be depositing funding dollars,” said Holbert.

With the solicitor’s blessing, the board conditionally approved a contract with engineering firm McMullan & Associates, subject to securing agreement on several material contract terms.
