Roxy Therapy Dogs elected three new board members recently: Dr. Lauren Celano, Stacey Pedersen and Maggie Sivak.
Celano is the medical director at Doylestown Animal Medical Clinic where she started the Integrative Pet Therapy Center for aging and hurting pets.
She received her undergraduate degree in biology from the University of Delaware and became a biochemist in vaccine research at Merck and Company Inc. while simultaneously earning a Master of Science degree in molecular biology from Lehigh University. She went on to graduate from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine and completed a Veterinary Business Management Association certificate.
Pedersen is the principal of Pine Run Elementary School in New Britain. This is her fourth year as principal and 22nd year in the Central Bucks School District. She has worked alongside Roxy volunteers for many years as a teacher, assistant principal, and principal. Stacey feels strongly about the benefits of the Roxy reading program for her students.
Pedersen sees an increase in the joy of reading and a positive impact on student confidence. She lives in Doylestown Borough with her husband, three Central Bucks School District students and two Bernese Mountain dogs.
Sivak spent her career in the telecommunications industry, first as a salesperson for Contel Executone then as a regional manager for Contel. She then opened her consulting company, Telecom Managers, Inc. from which she retired in 2024.
Sivak has volunteered with Roxy since 2007, serving in leadership positions and visiting children with her certified therapy dogs. She currently works with her labradoodle, Trixie, at Kutz Elementary School, the courthouse, Central Bucks high schools, and community events. Sivak belongs to Doylestown Country Club, is an avid golfer, and enjoys gardening and cooking.
Roxy Therapy Dogs is an all-volunteer non-profit, donation-dependent organization with 70 teams and six programs that bring the support and comfort of therapy dogs to children in Central Bucks School District schools, health care facilities, the courthouse, and trauma situations.
