The world needs acts of kindness now

Posted

I’m writing in regard to the article posted Dec. 16, about the celebration of World Kindness Day at School Lane Charter. It seems that kindness has been a concept more than a construct in Pennsylvania schools since the shutdown of education in March 2020.
Children as young as kindergarten are forced to worry about adult issues without awareness of them. This was the first article where I opened my laptop and smiled; I haven’t seen one quite like it in months. The world, at this time, needs more reminders of who really matters in the educational system – the children.
Teacher shortages and corrupt board meetings are all students like me have to show for their high school careers. Adults who choose to bring transphobia, racism, and hate to the lives of the youth of today are overwhelming the media. We’re rapidly losing sight of what really matters in the education system, especially here in Central Bucks – growing and developing the next generation.

I’m thankful for the staff members at School Lane Charter for creating a dynamic atmosphere full of kindness and support for their school-aged children to grow accustomed to, and eventually, overpower the current generation’s agenda of toxicity and hate. This article allowed me, a student, to step back and appreciate the innocence and kindness of children. For that, I thank you.
The smallest acts of kindness need to be heard now.
