Seeing the gallows erected at our Capitol to hang Vice President Pence during the Jan. 6 insurrection reminded me of pictures of the guillotines erected during the French Revolution. More than 16,000 people lost their heads during the bloodlust experienced in that revolution.

Mobs with guns or gallows result in terrible and un-American events. The Founders gave us ballots, not bullets, to settle political differences.
