The Bucks County District Attorney’s Office filed additional charges, including three counts of terrorism, today against Justin Mohn, the Middletown Township man accused of murdering and then decapitating his father last month.
Mohn, 32, of the 100 block of Upper Orchard Drive, was arrested hours after the Jan. 30 killing of his father, Michael F. Mohn, 68, and was charged with first-degree murder, abuse of a corpse, and possession of an instrument of crime.
Following the killing, authorities said, Justin Mohn posted a 14-minute YouTube video, showing him holding his father’s decapitated head, wrapped in a plastic bag, and calling for violent attacks against members of the federal government. His father was a federal employee with the Army Corps of Engineers.
Hours after the murder, investigators tracked Mohn’s cellphone to the National Guard Training Center in Fort Indiantown Gap, Lebanon County. There, he climbed a barbed wire fence and entered a secure military installation, the DAs office said today. The investigation revealed that Mohn went to Fort Indiantown Gap in an effort to mobilize the National Guard to raise arms against the federal government.
He was taken into custody by the Fort Indiantown Gap Police Department and Pennsylvania State Police. At the time, he was in possession of a loaded Sig Sauer 9mm pistol. In addition to the firearm, police recovered a USB device in his possession.
Utilizing a search warrant, detectives reviewed the contents of the flash drive, finding a folder that contained several pictures of federal buildings along with instructions that appeared to show the steps needed to make an explosive device.
The investigation also found that Justin Mohn legally purchased the firearm the day before the murder from a gun store in Croydon. A records check with the Pennsylvania State Police found that Justin Mohn did not possess a valid license to carry a concealed firearm or a valid sportsman’s permit.
A supplemental probable cause affidavit was filed Thursday morning before District Judge Charles D. Jonas, charging Mohn with the three counts of terrorism, as well as two additional counts of possession of an instrument of crime, and one count each of robbery, firearms not to be carried without a license, theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property, criminal use of a communication facility, terroristic threats, and defiant trespassing. He is currently in Bucks County Correctional Facility without bail. He has a preliminary hearing scheduled for April 2.
In the video Mohn posted, the DAs office said, he ordered all militia and patriots across the United States to kill all federal employees. Mohn also listed specific federal officials who should be captured and publicly executed, including giving the name and address of a U.S. District Court Judge as one of his targets.
Detectives served a search warrant on Jan. 31, locating a single 9mm shell casing, a large kitchen knife and a large machete in the downstairs bathroom and a computer in Justin Mohn’s bedroom, which was identified as the same room where he recorded and posted his YouTube video.
In the video, the DAs office said, Mohn identified Michael Mohn by name, and as his father.
