Stover Mill Gallery opens its 63rd art season

The Tinicum Civic Association’s Stover Mill Gallery – Bucks County’s longest continuously running art gallery – announces the 2023 calendar for its 63rd year of weekend art exhibits.

This year, the gallery’s monthly individual and shared shows will feature eight regional artists (some returning and some exhibiting for the first time) beginning April 8, with the return of Bob Richey of Warminster with an exhibit of pastels titled “Capturing Color, Light and Texture with Pastels.”

There will be an opening reception on Saturday, April 8; the show is open from 1 to 5 p.m. April 8-9, 15-16, 22-23, and 29-30.

In May, Stephen Russell of Bethlehem presents “Visions of the Landscape,” an exhibition of oil paintings and drawings. The opening reception will take place Saturday and Sunday, May 6 and 7, and the show is open from 1 to 5 p.m. May 6-7, 13-14, 20-21, and 27-28.

June’s artist, Carl Holst of Midland Park, N.J., brings viewers “Near and Far,” an exhibition of oil on canvas. The exhibit’s opening reception is Sunday, June 4; show dates are 1 to 5 p.m. June 3-4, 10-11, 17-18, and 24-25.

In July, the gallery welcomes Sue Ann Rainey from Pipersville featuring photographs and watercolors in her show titled “Double Take.” With an opening reception Saturday, July 1, the exhibition is open from 1 to 5 p.m. July 1-2, 8-9, 15-16, 22-23, and 29-30.

“Masters of Color and Clay” brings together artists Dot Bunn of Doylestown and Willi Singleton of Kempton in August for an exhibit of their oil paintings and wood-fired stoneware with natural glazes, respectively. The opening reception is set for Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 5 and 6 and the show is open from 1 to 5 p.m. Aug. 5-6, 12-13, 19-20, and 26-27.

September features the return of artist Doug Sardo of Upper Black Eddy with “Pastel Paintings, Ceramic Vessels, Light Sculptures: Creating in Three Mediums. The exhibit’s opening reception is Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 9 and 10, and the show is open from 1 to 5 p.m. Sept. 9-10, 16-17, 23-24, and 30-Oct. 1.

October will bring the conclusion of the season and the gallery is honored that Richard Lennox will present his works in oil at an Invitational Exhibition. The opening reception is Saturday, Oct. 7, and the exhibition is open from 1 to 5 p.m. Oct. 7-8, 14-15, 21-22, and 28-29.

The Stover Mill Gallery – housed in the restored 191 year-old Stover Mill, which is listed on the National Registry of Historic Places – is located along the Delaware River at 852 River Road (Route 32), Erwinna.

Owned and operated by the nonprofit Tinicum Civic Association, all proceeds are used for the support of nonprofit groups serving Tinicum and the surrounding area, and for the maintenance of the historic Stover Mill. For information, email stovermillgallery@gmail.com.
