Solebury plans Climate and Energy Forum

Posted

Solebury Township will hold a community Climate and Energy Forum from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 13, at the New Hope-Solebury High School cafeteria.

Among the items under discussion by Shannon Pendleton and Jim Mansfield of the township’s Environmental Advisory Council, and Planning Board member Peter Brussock will be benefits of sustainability, “doomerism” vs. optimism, and where do the largest emissions come from.

Township Supervisor John Francis will discuss Solebury’s climate change initiatives.

Presentations also will be given by the New Hope-Solebury High School Environmental Club; Neale Dougherty, the county sustainability director; and Nick Valla, Middletown Township assistant manager.

There will be breakout sessions where key township goals will be assigned to each table for discussion and proposals. This will include identifying problems, proposing solutions, ideas “we can steal” (what’s working and what’s affordable in other locations).

Introductions will be made by Supervisor Chair Mark Baum Baicker and concluding remarks on a call to action and where more climate and energy information can be found will be provided by Francis and Township Manager Chris Garges.
