Russell S. Nice Jr., of Buckingham Township, Pa., died on Friday, Aug. 11, 2023 at Doylestown Hospital, Doylestown, Pa. He was 88 years old.
Born in Hilltown Township, Bucks County, Pennsylvania, Russ had been a resident of the Lambertville-New Hope area for over 64 years. He retired as a manufacturing superintendent at the Union Camp Corporation in New Hope after 31 ½ years of service. He had been an active member of the Lambertville-New Hope Rescue Squad and a member of the Amwell Masonic Lodge. Russ was a hard-working man. He devoted his retirement years to maintaining his home and helping and caring for his family and many neighbors.
He was the father of the late Gayle Allen, the son of the late Russel S. and Alverda (Stump) Nice and the brother of the late Leon Nice. He is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years Joanne M. Sarapata; his daughters Dawn Bay of Ringoes, N.J., and Darla Naylor of Holland, Pa.; his grandchildren and their spouses Eric Tomasello and his wife Debbie of Summit, N.J.; Justin Bay and his partner Jenelle Park of Watsontown, Pa.; Kyle Naylor and his wife Chrissy of Chester Springs, Pa.; Kristen Bay and her fiancé Will Medina; Kody Naylor and his wife Mollie of Chadds Ford, Pa.; his great-grandchildren Kamryn Naylor, Callie Naylor and Brayden Tomasello; his brother and sister-in-law LeRoy and Berdella Nice of Hatfield, Pa., and several nieces and nephews.
There will a memorial gathering on Saturday, Aug. 26, 2023 at 10 a.m. at the Van Horn-McDonough Funeral, 21 York St., Lambertville, NJ 08530. Followed by a sharing of memories at 11 a.m.
Interment will follow at Holcombe-Riverview Cemetery in Lambertville.
