On Saturday, Oct. 21, the Doylestown Rugby women’s team lost to Harrisburg in an away match. The final score was 27-57, but the match was closer than the score reflects.

Try scorers for Doylestown were Kelly Albanir (two), Ali Dowdy (one), Sam Reeves (one) and Maddie Groninger (one). Dowdy also made one conversion. Sam Reeves was awarded forward player of the match and Katie Taggert was awarded back player of the match.

Doylestown will take on Harrisburg at home at the Maennerchor Field, 3650 Cold Spring Creamery Road, Doylestown, on Saturday, Oct. 28.

The Doylestown Rugby Academy girls team entered two teams in the West Chester University tournament on Oct. 22.

Team 1 had a 3-1 record, with wins against Conestoga (24-0), Downingtown (14-5) and West Pitt (24-7), and a loss to Knightmares 1 (0-29).

Try scorers for the Dragons were Jocelyn Terry (four), Sydney Haddon (two), Kendall Maday (one), Maggie Austin (one), Reaghan King (one), and Siena Accardi (one). Nolah Flynn made six conversions.

Team 2 went 2-0 on the day, with wins against West Pitt 2 (31-5) and Knightmares 2 (40-0).

Try scorers were Maddie Rosato (three), Siena Accardi (three), Leah Cipollo (two), Nora Rosenburg (two) and Shiane Young (one). Addy LaCarrubba made six conversions and Cipollo made two conversions. Accardi was awarded the Dragon award by the coaches for her play in the tournament and Nolah Flynn was awarded the Hit Chain award for her tackles in the tournament.

Doylestown will participate in a tournament at Downingtown on Sunday, Oct. 29.
