Pedestrian stop leads to Doylestown manhunt

Posted

Central Bucks Regional Police officers chased a man through the North Main Street area of Doylestown Borough and into Doylestown Township early Monday afternoon, prompting authorities to close roads and caution people in the area to remain indoors.

The man — Beau Booth, 41 — was taken into custody on Dorothy Drive in Doylestown Township at approximately 4:30 p.m., according to police. He was wanted by the U.S. Marshal’s Fugitive Task Force for robbery, fleeing and eluding police and multiple other charges, police said.

The event began at about 12:20 p.m., when, police said, they stopped three suspicious individuals at the EZ Laundry at 565 N. Main St. in the borough. Police said that while checking the identities of the two men and one woman, two of the people gave false names.

Booth fled on foot, leading police on a four-hour pursuit that included K-9 units from Hatboro and Upper Southampton. A woman with Booth — Kathryn Stewart, 31 — was arrested at the scene for outstanding warrants, according to officials.

About 4:20 p.m., Booth was spotted at the Sunoco gas station on North Main Street, asking people for a ride. He ran across the street toward the Thompson car dealership. Police soon located Booth on Dorothy Drive and apprehended him there.

Buckingham Police, Bucks County Sheriff’s officers, Doylestown Township Police, Bucks County Park Rangers, Plumstead Township Police and the K-9 units assisted in the search.
