Paul John Grossman

Posted

Paul John Grossman, 90, passed away on July 29 at Saucon Valley Manor in Hellertown, Pa., with family by his side. He was born on Feb. 1, 1933, to the late Paul and Fannie (McPherson) Grossman in Flemington, N.J.

Paul was a Veteran of the U.S. Army. He completed basic training in Fort Indiantown Gap, Pa., and then served the remainder of his enlistment in Aberdeen, Md. While in the service, Paul married Elizabeth “Betty” Scheetz of Uhlerstown, Pa., on July 25, 1953. After Paul returned home to his bride, they settled in Frenchtown, N.J., for many years before eventually moving to Betty’s family homestead in Uhlerstown.

Betty and Paul thoroughly enjoyed camping and country music. They attended many music festivals with performers such as Loretta Lynn, Roy Clark, Conway Twitty and many more. A vast collection of destination salt and pepper shakers provides a road map of their travels.

He was employed for many years by Roberson Septic Service and Dave Snyder Excavating. Paul lost Betty way too soon when she passed away in 1993. They would have just celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary! Paul was also predeceased by his best friend, Charlie Weaver in 2013 – you may have seen the dynamic duo for morning coffee daily at Kathee’s Store in Frenchtown, N.J.

Paul was quiet and a man of few words, but had a great sense of humor. He loved to sit on his porch and watch the activity on the towpath and chat with his neighbors. His favorite, however, was all the neighborhood dogs. Paul was never without a pocket full of biscuits for his four-legged, furry friends. Another constant in Paul’s home was 89.7FM WDVR Radio. Paul loved the music, especially Saturday night’s Heartlands Hayride. His radio dial never wavered.

We want to thank the staff at Saucon Valley Manor and Family Pillars Hospice for their care of “Broadway” and compassion at this difficult time. Family and friends are invited to join us for graveside services on Saturday, Sept. 9, at 10 a.m. at the Sandbrook Church Cemetery, 114 Sandbrook-Headquarters Road, Stockton (Delaware Township), NJ 08559.
