Newtown Arts Company plans Dickens of a party

Posted

Live theater is back in town and a party to celebrate is slated for 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 5, at the Newtown Theatre, 120 N. State St., Newtown.
Newtown Arts Company will host an opportunity to learn about its 39th season, to explore the newly renovated historic Newtown Theatre, and to offer “economical” Season Subscriptions before tickets go on sale to the general public.
The 2022 lineup of shows includes five main stage productions — three blockbuster musicals, a Neil Simon comedy and a poignant drama — plus a special family-friendly Classics for Kids production.
The six-show season includes Classics for Kids on March 12; “The Wedding Singer” from April 22 to May 1; “Steel Magnolias” from June 17 to 26; Roald Dahl’s “Matilda” the Musical from July 29 to Aug. 7; “Laughter on the 23rd Floor” from Oct. 21 to 30; and Rodgers and Hammerstein’s “Cinderella” Dec. 2 to 11.

Guests at the Dec. 5 party will be able to try out the new theater seating, explore the new party areas and enjoy a holiday favorite with a live, enhanced radio-show production of Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol,” which will begin at 7 p.m. Admission to “A Christmas Carol” is by donation.
Guests are required to show identification and proof of vaccination or a negative COVID PCR taken within 36 hours of these indoor events. Guests must wear face masks inside the theater, except when eating or drinking.
