Middle school student suspected of firing 380-caliber bullet into Bristol Twp. house

Posted

An 11-year-old boy is suspected of shooting a bullet from a 380-caliber handgun into a house in the 100 block of Goldenridge Drive in Levittown Tuesday afternoon, Bristol Township Police said.

Police and school administrators are still investigating whether the student at Benjamin Franklin Middle School, located less than a half-mile away at 6400 Millcreek Road, was in possession of the handgun during the school day.

Bristol Township police were called to the house at 4:08 p.m. Tuesday to investigate a bullet hole from a shot that had gone through an exterior wall into a bedroom. No one was injured.

Police said the investigation yielded enough information for them to consider the 11-year-old as a suspect. The boy was walking home from the middle school at the time of the shooting, police said. He is currently under the supervision of The Bucks County Youth Center.

After conducting various interviews and house checks, police were able to recover the firearm, a 380-caliber handgun, at about 9 p.m. Tuesday.

Throughout this incident, members of the Bristol Township Police Department and Bristol Township School District were cooperating, with the unified goal of a safe resolution.

There was an increased police presence at district schools Wednesday as a precautionary measure.
