The Bucks County Herald Foundation has named Emilie Lounsberry to its board of directors.
A professor in The College of New Jersey’s Journalism and Professional Writing Department since 2009, Lounsberry worked for more than two decades as an award-winning staff writer at The Philadelphia Inquirer.
“Emilie Lounsberry has an impressive background covering national and international news but I’m most thrilled with her local connections and her knowledge of Bucks County and the Delaware Valley environment,” said Bridget Wingert, president of the Bucks County Herald Foundation.
Her appointment increases the Herald Foundation Board’s membership to nine directors and follows September’s addition of Penn Community Bank president and CEO Jeane M. Vidoni.
At a time of unprecedented challenges for the newspaper industry, it also brings to two the number of longtime former Inquirer journalists on the board. The other is Jennifer Lin, who worked at the newspaper for 30 years.
“I’ve been a longtime reader and fan of the Herald so I am delighted to have an opportunity to help guide its future,” Lounsberry said.
During her career as a reporter, Lounsberry covered the statehouse in Trenton as well as City Hall and the federal court in Philadelphia. In 2009, she delivered the award-winning series “Justice: Delayed, Dismissed, Denied.” More recently, she covered the Montgomery County trial of comedian Bill Cosby for Variety.
Along with Wingert, Lin and Vidoni, the Herald Foundation board includes Marv Woodall, a local philanthropist; Kay Rock, an author and community volunteer; Dr. Felicia Ganther, president of Bucks County Community College; Jeffrey Nicholas, an attorney with the law firm of Fox Rothschild; and Joe Wingert, Bridget’s son and publisher of the Bucks County Herald.
Formed in 2020, the Bucks County Herald Foundation, a federally recognized charitable organization, raises money from readers, local businesses and foundations to support the Bucks County Herald’s news operations.
