James L. Bee

Posted

James L. Bee, “Jim”, a resident of Warwick, Pa., but more largely Bucks County, Pa., for 63 years, passed away on July 27, 2023 at Doylestown Hospital, surrounded by the love of his family. Jim was 69 years old.

He was the husband of Gwynne (Odehnal) Bee and together they had been married two weeks shy of 49 years, starting their life together as high school sweethearts.

Born in Spangler, Pa., Jim was the son of the late John LeMoyne and Josephine (Grey) Bee.

In addition to his wife Gwynne, Jim is survived by his daughters; Jennifer Bee (Daniel Barker) and Wendy Bee (Jonathan Ramel); two grandchildren – Aidan and Lily Barker; his brother John L. Bee Jr., and many nieces and nephews.

Jim graduated from William Tennent High School, Class of 1972. He had gone on to receive his bachelor’s degree in business from Temple University in 1977.

Jim had worked as a Certified Public Accountant for 45 years, starting his own firm in 1982 – Bee, Bergvall & Co, PC – a CPA firm in suburban Philadelphia, which he was very proud of and is still thriving today as one of the most prominent in the area. He was a member of the Suburban Bucks Jaycees from 1977 to 1989 and a member and longtime treasurer of the Central Bucks Chamber of Commerce.

Jim enjoyed photography with a lifelong passion. He loved traveling with his family across the U.S. and visiting countries across the world with his wife and close friends – Norway, Germany and Italy to name a few. Jim enjoyed riding with his buddies in the various motorcycle clubs he was part of on his signature “bee” color Harley Davidson. But his “prized” possession was his 1996 Porsche 911 Carerra that he won in a raffle and kept in pristine condition for 27 years. Above all, Jim loved spending any time with his family, from working on cars with his daughters, camping and any time spent with his grandchildren, whom he loved so dearly.

He will be remembered for being there for anyone who needed him – whether it was the tech guy for his office, a relief driver for bicycling groups, or “‘helping handyman” on house projects with his son-in-laws. He will forever be missed as the steady, always-there guy, who was the voice of reason for so many.

The family will receive friends at the Shelly Funeral Home, 460 Easton Road, Warrington, on Thursday, Aug. 10, 2023 from 5 p.m.-7 p.m.

A Celebration of Jim’s life will be held on Friday Aug. 11, 2023 at 5 p.m. at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 2131 Palomino Drive, Warrington. The family will also receive friends and family at the church prior to the celebration from 3:30 p.m.-4:45 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Friends of the Delaware Canal. A place that held many memories for Jim and his family.
