Ivyland first responder James Cantore gives back musically

Posted

James Cantore, assistant chief of the Ivyland Fire Department Station 62, is no stranger to the stage.
Beneath his uniformed presence lies an alter ego as a lead singer and guitar player for the band Friday Night Phoenix. The classic rock cover band will play a free benefit concert at 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 10, in the small Victorian borough of Ivyland to help raise funds for the town’s 150th anniversary celebration.
Cantore’s talents go back to his youth in Staten Island, N.Y., where he turned his vocal gifts into his passion for musical theater. In the early 80s, he landed a role in a touring production of the “Sound of Music” with opera singer Roberta Peters and actor Theodore Bikel.
While his passion for music never waned, Cantore pursued a career in law enforcement and spent the next 26 years in public service as a police officer on Staten Island, 19 of those years as a sergeant.

James moved to Ivyland in 2016 and instead of retiring, he became an active member of the Ivyland Fire Company, serving as the president and assistant fire chief. He is currently Assistant Fire Marshall for Bucks County as well.
The family-friendly outdoor concert with bring-your-lawn-chair seating will be held in Ivyland Commons Park in the heart of Ivyland. James encourages everyone to come and listen to great classic rock music, have some food and enjoy. As always, he continues to find many ways serve his community.
