Haycock needs planning, zoning board members

Posted

Haycock Township is looking for volunteers to join its zoning hearing board and planning commission. Applicants must live in Haycock.

The zoning board acts as a quasi-judicial body or “local court” for zoning matters. The board hears appeals of zoning officers’ rulings, requests for relief from specific provisions in the zoning code and challenges to the validity of the ordinance. It also reviews applications for “special exception uses,” for properties, which are permitted require a review. The board meets on an as-needed basis. Volunteers serve three-year terms.

Planning commissions are advisors to the elected governing body concerning the physical development of the community. They provide policy advice on land use regulations such as zoning and subdivision controls, and they may have some jurisdiction over the administration of applications to subdivide and develop land in the community. The commission meets monthly, provided there is business to tend to. Its members serve four-year terms.

Anyone interested in joining either the zoning board or planning commission is asked to contact Haycock at 215-536-3641 or info@haycocktownship.com
