Friends of Pennypacker Mills host Pollinator Party

Posted

The Friends of Pennypacker Mills, in collaboration with the Penn State Extension Master Gardeners, will host a free Pollinator Party at the Pennypacker Mills historic site, 5 Haldeman Road, Schwenksville, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 15.

This event is timed to kick off World Pollinator Week.

World Pollinator Week is a celebration of the vital role that pollinators play in our ecosystems, economies, and agriculture. Under the theme “Vision 2040: Thriving ecosystems, economies, and agriculture,” this year’s event urges us to envision a future where pollinators not only survive but thrive.

There will be speakers in the site’s Classroom Building to include topics such as:

Please Eat My Plants: Caterpillar Appreciation and Support;

Honeybees: How Can I Help;

Gardening for Native Bees; and

How to Make Your Garden Pollinator Friendly.

There will also be tree walks starting from the parking lot near the entrance to the mansion walkway at 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Crafters from annual craft marketplace will be under the tent and the Friends will have children’s crafts available as well. The Fitzwater Station food truck and Rita’s Water Ice will be on site all day. Admission and parking are free. For information, including the schedule of speakers, visit at Pollinator Party at friendsppm.org.
